In less than a month, on August 5 2026, the Niners Chemnitz begin preparation for their seventh BBL season and second Eurocup campaign. Already four German pros – Mateo Šerić, Jannis von Seckendorff, Alexander Richardson and Luca Kellig – have attended the summer camp.

What does the current roster look like?

The roster remains incomplete. The four named players logged 12 minutes of court time in the first sessions, with Šerić averaging 4.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per minute. Von Seckendorff recorded 1.8 steals per drill. Richardson and Kellig added solid passing numbers – 3.4 assists per training unit.

Which positions could be tight?

German spots are under pressure. Guard and forward slots see several young talents fighting for minutes. Head coach Julius Kühn stresses that wing depth will be decisive, as Eurocup opponents rely heavily on perimeter play. In the last BBL games the Niners shot 36 % from three‑point range, a figure they must maintain.

How does this affect Eurocup qualification?

Eurocup action starts in October, just two months after training begins. The team must solidify paint defense and speed up transition offense. Last season the Niners posted a 78.3 % field‑goal rate in fast‑break situations – a benchmark they aim to hit again.

When will the rest of the squad join?

The remaining players have about a month before the intensive camp kicks off in September. According to a club statement, the full squad will be at the training center no later than August 30 2026. Then targeted scrimmages against BBL opponents will fine‑tune pick‑and‑roll combos.

What can fans expect this season?

Fans can expect a blend of seasoned German players and international newcomers. The offensive plan relies on quick ball movement, high assist numbers and strong rebounding. If the team keeps the current training intensity, they could again battle for playoff spots in both the BBL and Eurocup.
